Airports Details

The closest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport in Porto, located 70 km north of Aveiro. Portela International Airport in Lisbon is located 250 km south of Aveiro. Please see more information in ANA Aeroportos de Portugal.


 

 Travel to Aveiro by train

 

For those arriving at Porto Airport

Aveiro has an excellent railway service to Porto, situated 60 km North of Aveiro.

The trip between the airport and the railway station (called Porto-Campanhã), which has direct rail connections to Aveiro, can be done by táxi (about 20€) and takes around 30 minutes. A less expensive way to reach the Porto-Campanhã railway station by using the Metro, which has a terminal at the airport. The trips between the airport and the railway station (route) take about 32 minutes and the ticket costs 1,95€ (Z4 ticket). Please see more information in Metro do Porto.

Depending on the type of train service used, travel between Porto-Campanhã and Aveiro railway takes 30 to 50 minutes and the costs range between 3.45€ and 19.70€. There are regular trains to Aveiro from Porto. Please see more information in Comboios de Portugal.

For those arriving at Lisbon Airport

 The simple way of transport to Aveiro (situated 250 km of Lisboa) is by train from Lisboa-Oriente railway station.

From Lisbon airport you should go to Oriente railway station, by taxi (fare between €10 to €15) which takes about 10 minutes or by metro. There are less expensive ways to get there, by bus, for example (lines 5 and 44).

On average, there are trains from Lisbon-Oriente to Aveiro every 90 minutes. Train will cost between €20 to €40, and the journey between Lisbon-Oriente and Aveiro railway station will be around 2 h 30 min. Please see more information in Comboios de Portugal.

Aveiro train station to University

On foot, it takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the University.

By bus, the journey takes 15 minutes (Line 11) and the cost in the bus is 2,00€ (aveirobus).

By taxi, the journey takes approximately 5 minutes (depending on traffic), and costs around €5.  

Travel to Aveiro by road

 

From the north - Arrived at Porto

From the north using the A1 motorway or from the east using the IP5/A25. Take the A1 motorway in the direction of Lisbon. Exit the A1 in the direction of Aveiro and take the IP5/A25. There are two exits to the city from the IP5/A25, first Aveiro-Norte and some kilometres further on, the Aveiro exit. This second exit is best for reaching the University of Aveiro.

From the south - Arrived at Lisbon

Alternatively you can use the A1 motorway. Take the A1 motorway in the direction of Porto. Exit the motorway at Aveiro-Sul/Águeda (exit 15) and follow the EN235 road directly to the University Campus (The University is near the hospital).

From the south, using the A8 and A17 motorways. Exit the motorway at Aveiro-Sul and follow the EN235 road directly to the University campus.
